Welcome to St. Petersburg, the former capital of Imperial Russia, home of the Tsars and one of the world’s most beautiful and romantic cities. The entire city center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is full of beautiful palaces and monuments. The city is also known as Northern Venice because of its location on numerous islands in the Neva River and its many canals with more than 400 bridges. This tour is a great start to your trip and the best way to get acquainted with all of the city´s major highlights. It will take you throughout the historical center of St. Petersburg and includes spectacular views of the Neva River, Griboyedova and Moika canals, numerous bridges connecting the city islands and visits to the two main islands - Petrogradsky and Vasilevsky. The tour will introduce the visitor to Nevsky Prospect – the city’s famous boulevard, the Winter Palace, other palaces and churches and to the areas of the city formerly inhabited by Dostoyevsky, Rasputin and numerous Russian princes and counts.

The St. Isaac’s Cathedral is the fourth highest cathedral in the world with a splendid interior and whose cupola holds over 100 kg of gold.  One of the finest architectural monuments of the 19 century, the former principal cathedral of the Russian capital has a capacity to accommodate 10,000 people. The cathedral is graced with 112 solid granite columns weighing up to 114 tons each and about 400 reliefs and bronze sculptures. The observation platform on the colonnade provides a magnificent view of the city

Peter and Paul’s Fortress is a symbol of St. Petersburg and also the oldest building in the city. Rising high above the Neva the golden slim spire of Peter and Paul’s Cathedral surmounted with an angel dominates the city. Built as a military action it soon came to be used as a prison for opponents of the tsarist regime. While there, you will visit Peter and Paul’s Cathedral, the burial place of the Russian Tsars from Peter the Great onward
